Are you an emotional eater?

Signs You Might Be an Emotional Eater:
1. You eat when you’re not physically hungry

You might eat because you’re stressed, bored, anxious, lonely, sad — or even happy and celebrating — rather than because your body needs fuel.
2. You crave specific “comfort” foods

It’s not just hunger — it’s a strong craving for chips, chocolate, pizza, ice cream, etc.
These foods often have emotional associations (soothing, numbing, distracting).
3. Your hunger feels sudden and urgent

Physical hunger builds gradually. Emotional hunger feels like “I need something right NOW.”
4. You eat mindlessly or feel disconnected while eating

You might eat quickly, not even really tasting the food.
You often finish eating and realize you barely noticed it.
5. You feel guilt, shame, or regret afterward

After eating, you may beat yourself up or feel like you lost control — especially if you weren’t actually hungry to begin with.
6. Eating is your main way of coping

If food is your go-to when anything goes wrong (or right), it might be your emotional regulation tool rather than a source of nourishment.
