Talking down to yourself leads to more overeating
So…you have been bashing yourself for yet another session of overeating?
You are furious you have messed up your diet?
What can you do about it but be disappointed in yourself? Have you ever thought how many times per day you actually tell yourself something very negative about your eating habits?
How many times per day do you think what you are going to eat, how much of it, when you are going to it, what’s allowed or not allowed etc…?
How many times per day you step on the scale or look in the mirror and tell yourself:” this isn’t going to work, I see no results”, ” I have tried everything and nothing worked”?
These sentences…become beliefs. They are NOT true and yet you believe them.
80% of your thoughts are negative thoughts and 95% of your thoughts are the same every single day!
That’s quite a lot of negative thinking.
And let me tell you something: You can’t do anything positive if you are constantly in a negative mindset. You can’t think positively and negatively at the same time. You also can’t heal in an environment and thoughts that caused you problems in the first place.
Some of the most common mistakes people say are:
1. “I am either on a diet or off a diet”, “I am either good or bad”
2. “I will never succeed”
3. “I am doomed to look like this”
4. ” I have tried everything and nothing worked”
5. “I am a failure, I don’t deserve to reach my goals”
6. “I can’t do it”
It’s not enough to think about food. It’s as important what you keep telling yourself and feeding yourself with mentally.
Changing your mindset is one of the key components in healing your relationship with food.
Mastery of the mind is one of the most powerful things you will ever do. YOUR mind can serve you as a powerful tool or it can ruin you. Your choice.
