Is Intermittent fasting good for emotional and binge eaters?
Intermittent fasting (IF) is an eating pattern that involves alternating between periods of fasting (not eating or significantly reducing calorie intake) and periods of eating. Unlike traditional diets that focus on what foods you should eat, intermittent fasting is more concerned with when you should eat. It doesn’t prescribe specific foods but rather defines specific time windows for eating and fasting.
There are several popular methods of intermittent fasting, and individuals can choose the one that best fits their lifestyle and preferences. Here are some common approaches: 16/8, 20/4, 5:2/ eat-stop-eat/OMAD etc..
I have done them all! I have done the 24, 26, 48h fast and I have some experience to say first of all the women shouldn’t fast the same way that men do (their fasting should follow their natural menstrual cycle for better results) but also that if you are an emotional/binge eater I don’t recommend fasting and here is why.
